Open Source Democracy
Some of my friends are working on a really exciting project called Loomio. It’s an open source platform with a vision to change the way the world makes decisions together. They've taken a distinctly DIY approach, releasing a prototype 18 months ago that is already been tried by more than 14,000 people around the world. Now they're crowdfunding to take the prototype to the next level and make a truly scalable platform for distributed, inclusive decision-making. It's great to see an initiative like this embracing open source principles, which means the code is a public resource for anyone to use, and they won't be captured by corporate interests as the platform scales. This is precisely the sort of initiative that makes me excited for how technology can improve society!
