Robots are a thing of today. There’s one that not only travels on the ground but also on walls. It’s the VertiGo, a creative collaboration between Disney Research Zurich and ETH. The VertiGo can make a smooth transition from ground to wall surfaces. It has four wheels, two of which can be steered. It has two propellers at the top. The rear propeller thrusts toward the wall, while the front one thrusts upward, allowing for wall travel. The VertiGo is suitable for both indoor and urban environments. It can travel not only on smooth surfaces but also on grass and also indented surfaces.

Carbon fiber and 3D printed parts are put together for optimal weight. These parts are compactly constructed and connected with each other. The end product is a robot that can defy gravity, as it can scale walls and theoretically, even ceilings. Probably one of the best things about it is that it is controlled just like an RC!
