A complete design, print and build challenge
Move students from a digital model to a useful finished object. They design and print a custom light form, assemble it around the supplied torch, then assess how shape and material affect the result.
Students create a functional printed form around the supplied torch and can compare design choices, light output and usability.
Why it works in the classroom
The project gives students a clear brief and a physical result they can test. The supplied base model provides a practical starting point while leaving room for original ideas, measurement, iteration and discussion.
Learning opportunities
- 3D design and dimensional measurement
- Designing a functional enclosure around real components
- Prototyping, assembly and design refinement
- Light diffusion, form and user-focused product design
