FAQ
1. What hotends are included in the H2C Combo?
The H2C AMS Combo/Laser Full Combo includes 8 hotends and 1 AMS 2 Pro: Right hotends (Induction hotends): 4 × 0.4 mm hardened steel induction hotends, of which 1 is pre-installed on the printer and 3 are included in the accessory box. The accessory box also includes 1 × 0.2 mm induction hotend and 1 × 0.6 mm induction hotend. Left hotends (Standard hotends): 2 × 0.4 mm hardened steel standard hotends, of which 1 is pre-installed and 1 is included in the accessory box.
Currently, the firmware supports mixed flow-rate printing (standard flow + high flow), but does not yet support mixing different nozzle sizes during printing. If this feature is added in the future, we will provide details through a software update.
2. If I want full hotend-swap capability, what additional hotends do I need? How should the AMS be connected?
To fully experience the Vortek 6-hotend automatic swap system, we recommend purchasing the H2C Ultimate Set, which include: 3 × 0.4 mm induction hotends, 1 × 0.2 mm left hotend, 1 × 0.6 mm left hotend, 1 x AMS 2 Pro, 1 x AMS HT.
Combined with the AMS 2 Pro that comes with the H2C Combo, you will then have 2 × AMS 2 Pro + 1 × AMS HT.
Ultimate setup: Two AMS 2 Pro feed the right induction hotends; AMS HT feeds the left hotends. This gives you full 7-hotend automatic swapping with AMS support on both sides.
In addition to the above options, you can also try:
Multi-AMS Setup: Add 2 × AMS HT. All three AMS feed the right-side hotends. Future Setup (2026): A Filament Track Switch Module will be released, allowing full 7-hotend support with only 2 AMS units, enabling free filament switching between left & right filament paths.
3. Does the H2C support laser and blade-cutting functions?
The H2C Laser Edition supports both 10W and 40W laser modules and is also compatible with the blade-cutting module. The non-laser H2C supports blade-cutting by default, but can be upgraded to support laser functions via an upgrade kit.
4. Can H2S or H2D be upgraded to H2C?
Both H2D and H2S users may upgrade to H2C by installing the Vortek Upgrade Kit. However, the upgrade process is complex and time-consuming, so users who want the Vortek experience are recommended to purchase H2C directly. Purchasing H2S/H2D first and upgrading later will incur extra cost. The Vortek Upgrade Kit is expected to be available in early 2026.
5. Can H2C dual-nozzle printing be used with different nozzle sizes simultaneously?
Not currently. The firmware does not yet support mixing nozzle sizes (left vs. right or within Vortek hotend sets). However, mixed nozzle types of the same size (e.g., 0.4 mm standard flow
6. Are the H2C buildplates, calibration plates, laser platform, and blade-cutting mats compatible with H2D?
Because the Vortek hotend rack occupies additional space, the H2C print bed is slightly smaller than the H2D.
However, the vision calibration plates, laser platform, and blade-cutting mats are fully compatible across all H2 series models. For more details, please refer to Wiki.
