There’s no denying the current shift of perspective on energy, which is to go green. Welcome to The Edge, dubbed the greenest office building in the world, office of the company, Deloitte.

The Edge boasts of its low-energy consumption establishment. Solar panels line the roof. Rainwater is collected to flush toilets and water its gardens that are home to various pollinators. “It’s a building that has sustainability as an important aspect of making it a good place to work,” said Ron Bakker, architect, PLP Architecture.

What makes The Edge more interesting besides the fact that it’s the green? It’s also one of the most “connected” and “smartest.” It knows where you live, where you drive, and even the amount of sugar you put on your coffee. The moment you enter the building, you are recognized. You’re basically connected to the building with your smartphone or laptop, through an app developed by the company.

“The building becomes a very important part of who are and what we want to be, and we’ve actually seen in recruitment that more people are now spontaneously coming to Deloitte because they want to work in this building,” said Erik Ubels, Chief Information Officer of Deloitte.
